Upon collection of the Copernicus Users requirements by the European Commission, ESA organises the procurement of Earth Observation data from a series of Copernicus Contributing Missions (CCMs) and publishes the resulting data offer into the Data Access Portfolio (DAP).
The new version of the document (Data Warehouse phase 2 DAP v2.1) describes the datasets and the conditions (i.e. data licensing, ordering mechanisms, product types available, delivery timelines, data access mechanisms) under which EO data are accessible until end 2020 and identify the quotas available to eligible users until the end of 2015.
The data offer is divided into two distinct types of datasets:
This is the fixed part of the data offer, consisting in continuous data delivery from systematic missions or generation of large predefined coverages. User eligibility, specific to each dataset, is defined in the Access Rights section of the portal, access to the data is via subscription. Access rights, specific to each dataset, are defined in the section of the portal, access is via subscription.
This is the variable part of the data offer for which 40 data type categories are defined. Depending on their requirements, eligible users are granted a quota by the European Commission and may order data within these datasets. Once available in the Copernicus Space Component Data Access (CSCDA) archive, additional datasets can be re-used by authorised users; eligibility is defined in the Access Rights section of the portal.
