Astrium GEO-Information Services Germany (Infoterra GmbH) has successfully finalized the development activities for interfacing the TerraSAR-X Ground Segment (TSXX) with the Coordinated Data Access System (CDS).
These activities complete the ones undertaken in the previous development phase (V1 Phase completed in 2010) as well as the early developments that have been customized for the GSCDA needs. As part of the GSCDA project, Astrium GEO-Information Services has partnered with DLR and Werum to update the TSXX system and the PGS elements to comply with GSCDA interface requirements. Both subsystems are coupled in the current overall mission infrastructure and form a unit towards the CDS. The users will be able to browse through TerraSAR-X collections via the GMES client or via automated HMA protocols. The HMA-CAT browsing of the TSXX native catalogue is offered to users as a direct interface plug-in in DLR multimission ground segment. On the other hand, the HMA-ORD interface was implemented by DLR and is deployed and operated within the TSXX system. The automated HMA ordering interface coupled with the CDS emergency satellite tasking tool is supported, together with improved metadata exchange and reporting to CDS.
The new features are expected to further release manual operations and improve overall system performances and integration.
"We are pleased to take our working relationship with ESA to a new level", said Katja Bach, Project Manager for the TSXX GSCDA V2 Project at Astrium GEO-Information Services Germany . "These new developments will further increase operational efficiency of GSCDA Operations on both sides, enabling 24/7 rapid response with much reduced need to interact with customer service. The experience gained from this interesting project greatly benefits the team and the TerraSAR-X mission, and provides an excellent starting point for future developments of machine-to-machine interfaces".
