15 June 2010 - The new MIPAS/ENVISAT operational processor (IPF) Version 5.05 was successfully activated in ESRIN and Kiruna processing centers on 10 June 2010. This IPF allows to re-start the MIPAS Level 2 Near Real Time(NRT)processing in the ESA Ground Segment.
MIPAS Level 1 and Level 2 NRT products are carefully checked since the switch in order to verify the processing performances and quality. The switch was fully successful in terms of data quality.
Two minor issues remain in the Level 2 NRT processing that have a very limited or no impact on the scientific data. These issues are:
• A format inconsistency in few records of one Level 2 Annotation Data Set (microwindow_occupation_ads).
• The usage of the ECMWF profiles for the initial guess is currently disabled, meaning that the MIPAS Level 2 NRT products are at the moment fully aligned with the validation dataset distributed to the users on 14 April 2010.

Work is currently ongoing to resolve these two minor issues on the Level 2 processing. A status update will be provided in the coming days.
