Complete AATSR L2P archive now available

07 June 2010 - This newly completed archive presents the release of a large and complete ATSR-1/ATSR-2/AATSR consolidated data set. The archive will continue to be updated with AATSR data approximately 2 weeks after data is available at UK-MM-PAF.

Users should be aware that:

  1. The SSES scheme for ATSR-1 is not optimal prior to 1994 as it does not yet take into account for the eruption of Mount Pinatubo. A modified scheme for data prior to 1994 should be available by the end of the year but until then users should be careful of using ATSR-1 data for this period.
  2. There will be a small shift in the geolocation between an AATSR NRT L2P and its equivalent AATSR archive L2P product due to the use of restituted state vectors.
  3. Variations in the clear-sky coverage will be present due to the cloud masking being dependent on the geolocation and orbit start position.
  4. While these changes do have a small-scale pixel level impact, the user should find no real notable difference in data quality between an AATSR NRT L2P product and an AATSR archive L2P product. The same SSES are applied to the both the NRT and archive products.
