The GMES Space Component (GSC) Data Access system is the interface for accessing the Earth Observation products from the GMES Space Component. The system overall space capacity relies on several EO missions contributing to GMES, and it is continuously evolving, with new missions becoming available along time and others ending and/or being replaced.
The GMES Space Component Data Access (GSCDA) provides a comprehensive and coordinated access to all GMES space data, allowing the capacity:
The GSCDA data and services are accessible in the form of DataSets, which are pre-defined collections of coherent mono- and multi-mission product. The complete list of foreseen DataSets is available in the Data Access Portfolio (Download DAP V2.3). These DataSets have been derived from the requirements of the GMES Services, and after trading-off with the overall system capacity.
The Data Access Portfolio Document V2.3 defines the datasets that are made available to the GMES Services in the second phase of the GSC Data Access (2011-2014), in response to the Data Warehouse requirements. It is based on agreements with 11 GMES Contributing Mission Entities (GCMEs). Data supply will start on 13 June 2011, depending on incoming orders, and will last until 31 May 2014. However, the V2.3 update includes corrections and shifting of quota within additional datasets.
The document describes the datasets and the conditions (i.e. data licensing, ordering mechanisms, product types available, delivery timelines, data access mechanisms) under which they will be accessible.
The GSC-Data Access project is managed by the European Space Agency as an integral part of the GMES Space Component Programme.
The project has received funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme FP7/2007-2013 under grant agreement no 223001.
